Liverpool Guild of Students has set up a committee to examine the impact that tuition fees have on students. The Scrutiny Committee, set up by Campaigns Officer Liz Williams will produce a report providing clear evidence of how higher education funding affects students and the wider city community, with an assessment of both undergraduate and postgraduate fees.
The report comes well ahead of the 2009 government review of tuition fees and will hope to ensure that the cap on fees is not raised and that maintenance grants and support for lower income families is continued and strengthened at all higher education institutions in Liverpool and across the country.
It will provide a solid foundation for further campaigning from students in Liverpool. Williams said ‘this will make us stronger when campaigning locally and nationally on the issues surrounding higher education’.
