WENGER’S WHINGE IS A BRUCIE BONUS

When the ever-vocal Arsène Wenger criticised Wigan Athletics’ home pitch, stating that it contributed to his side’s downfall in the recent 0-0 bore draw, it was hard not to be amused as Steve Bruce had the last laugh.

Although it is expected that Premiership teams maintain their pitch, M.Wenger was surely clutching at straws and eager to find a scapegoat, or a herd of them.

Maybe student footballers should try that one next time we’re playing at Maryton Grange and an ultra-ambitious cross-pitch 50 yard pass doesn’t come off: “Sorry skipper, it’s because of the pitch! Honest!”
