GOOGLE AND WIKIPEDIA BANNED
A lecturer has hit out at use of internet sites such as Google with claims that students are taking the easy option for degree research. Professor Brabazon, a media studies lecturer at the University of Brighton, has responded to the phenomenon she has dubbed ‘The University of Google’ by banning websites like Google in her students’ work. She claims, “The education world has pursued new technology with an almost evangelical zeal. Too many students don’t use their own brains enough. What they are paying for is the knowledge and experience of people like myself.” She has been criticised by the people who ultimately pay her wages, the students, for failing to embrace the new medium of information these websites represent.
