LIVERPOOL ROCKED BY EARTHQUAKE

Liverpool is just one of the many cities across England and Wales which was rocked by an earthquake last night. Epicentrered at Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, the 10-second earthquake woke residents up at about 1am.

The British Geological Survey has said that last night’s earthquake was the biggest the UK has seen in the past 25 years, with a magnitude of 5.3.

A second earthquake, this time an aftershock, was recorded at 4am, but this only had a magnitude of 1.8.

  3. Location Brampton / South Yorkshire

Me and my wife were woken up at approx 12:56am – Very abruptly to a very loud vibrating noise which gradually got louder during the 10 second period, then suddenly stopped. My immediate thought was that the combination boiler that is situated in the airing cupboard was about to explode. After hearing the security alarms going off from the new housing estate across the road, I realised it could only be an Earth tremor or some sort of underground explosion. People were outside in nightgowns, bewildered to what had just happened.

  5. I study at Bromsgrove School in Worcester and I could. Iwas doing my Economics prep at about 1 o’clock in the morning, and I could feel an earthquake. Everything in my room started shaking, mirrors, even my watch felt down from the middle of the table, and then I ran into my friend’s room. I though I was going mad!

  7. Our whole house shook. We were downstairs watching a film (being nightowls). My immediate concern was for the kids asleep upstairs in their beds. I ran upstairs to their bedroom. But by the time i got there the shaking had stopped. (Needless to say, i was shaking for the next hour or so)I hung around in our childrens bedroom. Just in case it started again. But no(touch wood) nothing. The kids felt nothing and thought i was ‘tricking’ them when they got up this morning for school. Upon telling our 10 year old son. His reply was ‘Brilliant…hopefully school will have fell down’. But unlucky for him. It was still standing this morning. Just some slightly ’shaken’ parents.
