AL BANGS ON THE DOOR OF JUSTICE

HE’S ONLY A POOR LITTLE HORNET…

Much has been said over the past few months on the future of Watford midfielder Al Bangura. After being threatened with deportation, various luminaries (Elton John and David Blunkett included) all came out in support.

The multi-cultural University of Liverpool has a very big international population. These young people will doubtlessly be hoping to embark on a career in Britain in the future. I believe that their presence is beneficial for both the campus environment and the city as a whole.

Imagine for a second that there were no international students. Dull. One area affected hugely would be sports: I recently refereed a football match where a student of Chinese origin blitzed the right wing. It is irrefutable that his skills were of an exceptional standard and his stamina levels put ours to shame.

So, in a world where immigration consumes many column-inches, this journalist believes that sometimes common sense should prevail over formalities.
