When I heard a new club was opening in Liverpool, I have to admit I was intrigued. Though Liverpool offers a decent variety of nights out, a change of scenery is always a good idea. So it was settled, a friend and I were heading to new club ‘Kingdom’ to see what all the fuss was about (and for some cocktails of course!). We arrived dressed in our best and were escorted downstairs where a hostess met us to show us around. With its curious fusion of modern décor and classical murals, it really is striking and promises something different to the club experience. The layout allows you to see everything and everyone around you and you almost get the feeling that you are spending the evening in an upscale penthouse. It’s ideal for people-watching especially as its frequenters include footballers and local celebs. You will find everything you expect from an exclusive venue here. A strict door policy, glamorous hostesses, members only VIP suites and even a chauffeur service available, so no need to hang around for Delta!
After having a good look around, we decided to do what we do best and head to the bar. A charming barman recommended several different types of cocktails and of course, we had to oblige. First we tried the Strawberry and Balsamic Martinis and then swiftly moved on to the Honey and Basil Daquiris…lovely (though my friend couldn’t quite stomach the sweet/sour daiquiri). The menu has loads to offer the cocktail connoisseurs out there and some interesting options for novices, including ‘The Godfather’ and a variation on the classic Cosmopolitan. After a few, we turned towards a space that might have been a dance floor, except there was no one dancing. Kingdom is definitely not the place to throw off your heels and dance around your handbag. A word of warning, you should be seen and not heard here. There’s a good atmosphere and the staff go out of their way to make your night extra special. If you’re heading down there, arm yourself with the season’s latest trends (best worn with a pout) and prepare for a truly regal night.
