NEW YEAR’S EVE - YOUR GUIDE TO WHAT’S ON

2008 is set to be big. As everyone knows by now, Liverpool takes its place as the European Capital of Culture next year. There’s some amazing stuff planned for ‘08, so it’s your duty to see it in in style! Whether the festive season means that you’re counting the pennies or if it’s an opportunity to splash the cash, there are loads of options for the perfect New Years Eve.

Contrary to popular belief, New Years Eve can be done on a budget and we recommend the free firework display. Details haven’t been confirmed yet (and it could always be moved to some time in January) but simultaneous displays are due to take place at locations over the city, including the iconic waterfront. It’s simple, so if it is on, wrap up, show up, and look up!

If you’re willing to brave the mile long taxi queue however, then there are some great events planned at clubs all over the city. The annual Chibuku fancy dress party is due to take place at Barfly, this year’s theme is Bad Taste. Yes, that’s right, as well the usual amazing atmosphere and sounds of Chibuku, it’s also an excuse to raid those charity shops and go all out!

Garlands is also set to be one to remember, billing ‘a very special surprise PA,’ alongside regulars Dave Booth, Les Calvert and Suzee. There’s sure to be an after party which means you can keep partying long into 2008.

For a more low key night, why not head down to Baby Cream at the Albert Dock? Playing retro house, club classics, funky house and electric; its due to be a night of ‘sublime sounds for you beautiful people’!

Or if these aren’t your cup of tea the why not try the Cavern Club, Tabac or even the Camel Club who are all inviting you to celebrate in style!
