With only 2 weeks left until Liverpool is officially crowned Capital of Culture, Liverpool Culture Company today announced that it will make TV broadcasting history by broadcasting the worlds’ longest advert.
Anyone tuning in to Information TV channel (channel 167 on Sky) from midnight on 31st December to midnight on January 1st 2008, will be greeted with a rotating promotional advert for the year of culture.
This unique deal is part of a cultural relationship with Information TV that will also host a Capital of Culture Micro Channel across its service comprising of three fixed and three floating hours every day across the year – starting on January 12th – the day after the official opening to the year of culture.
It follows a series of successful TV productions in Liverpool this December, such as The Turner Prize on Channel 4, The Royal Variety Performance on ITV and the Liverpool Nativity on BBC 3.
Liverpool ‘08 officially begins at 20.08pm on Friday, Jan 11 with the People’s Opening at St George’s Plateau featuring a free 40 minute show features Ringo Starr, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and many others in front of what is expected to be thousands of people.
