Freshers left to rough it whilst rooms are renovated

First year University of Liverpool students have had a hard time moving into their guaranteed accommodation this year as a result of a £4.6 million project which was set to enhance the Greenbank campus. The building project, which ran well behind schedule, was ‘essential’ to improving the halls of Derby and Rathbone and Roscoe and Gladstone.

Just under a hundred students were affected in total; all of them moving in progressively through the first weeks of term as work on the site finished. A total of 30 students waited until three weeks after their intended moving date before they could start living university life as they intended. The University of Liverpool fully compensated all of the students affected by the building works and has apologized for the inconvenience. Hopefully all the students late arriving have caught up with their fellow freshers!
